Baroda Dairy to set up plant to tap Narmada water

"Tenders have been invited for this purpose. The plant is expected to go on stream in six months. The total cost of the plant is Rs one crore," he told reporters here.     

Srivastav said the Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited (SSNL) has decided to supply water to the dairy to fulfil its requirements.     

 

"The dairy's daily requirement of water is five lakhs litres while the availability of water from SSNL pipeline, will be ten lakh litres per day, he said.     

After meeting daily requirements of five lakh litres of water daily, the dairy will have a surplus of five lakh litres per day, he said, adding that for making good use of the surplus five lakh litres of water, the dairy decided to set up this plant.     

For this purpose of bringing Narmada water to the dairy, it has laid a seperate 11 km pipeline at Dhoniyovi village from where the main Narmada canal is passing.     

The total cost of laying of pipeline between Dhaniyavi village and dairy is Rs 2.66 crore. Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi would inaugurate the pipeline on June 8, Srivastav said. These pouches and bottles will be sold under the brand name of "Narmada neer" he said.
