Bata India's net profit increased 56% to Rs 9.5 crore for the third quarter ended September 30, 2007 when compared with Rs 6.1 crore in the corresponding period of the last fiscal.

Total sales increased to Rs 203 crore from Rs 173 crore in the corresponding period last year.

The rise in turnover was based on sustained turnaround and restructuring efforts as customers responded to better design, renovated existing stores and new stores of international standard, Bata said.

The release added that higher sales was also possible because shops were kept open for longer hours and seven days in a week, wherever possible.
