Bangalore-based public sector defence company Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) has posted 36.5% drop in net profit to Rs 80 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2012 as against Rs 126 crore reported in the corresponding quarter last year. The total income of the company remained almost flat at Rs 1,063 crore as against Rs 1,072 crore reported in the year ago period.
However, the company registered an operating loss of Rs 41 crore for the September quarter as against an operating profit of Rs 22 crore in the year ago period.
