BEL will participate in defence expo

To showcase defence electronics products & systems

Premier defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) will participating in the Defexpo 2006, the international exposition showcasing Army and Navy equipment and systems.

The event will be held at the Pragati Maidan in New Delhi, from January 31 to February 3. BEL will display equipment and systems from its widerange of export-oriented products.

The products chosen by BEL for display at the expo include communication equipment, command and control systems, radars and sonars, night vision and opto electronics products, tank electronics, simulators and electronic warfare systems.

BEL will display the battlefield surveillance radar "" short range (BFSR-SR) manufactured with design knowhow from LRDE, Bangalore.

BEL recently bagged the prestigious DSIR national award for its R&D efforts in industry for 2005 for the commercialisation of BFSR-SR.

It is a portable, state-of-the-art ground-based radar for surveillance in the battlefield indigenously developed by the DRDO. The BFSR-SR can also be useful to the police and security forces for homeland security.

BEL will also showcase details of its other radars like the upgraded Flycatcher, Indra Mk II, improved Reporter, BFSR "" medium range, Doppler Weather Radar (DWR), surveillance radar element (SRE), weapon locating radar (WLR), battery level radar (BLR), central acquisition radar and compact and lightweight interrogation friend or foe (CLIFF).

The communication equipment on display will include VHFoUHF hand-held radio, HF, VU/HF transreceivers, secure telephone, secure fax, unit level switchboard used by the Army at the battalion level, pylon interface box, ruggedised data terminal, ruggedised laptop terminal, wireless message terminal unit, intelligent message terminal and integrated secure digital communication network.

Opto electronics and thermal imager products on display will be night vision goggles, night vision binoculars, night weapon sights, integrated observation equipment.

The observation equipment is an imaging system for observation and fire monitoring by artillery consisting of a thermal imager, laser range finder mounted on a goniometer with north finding facility and a global positioning system, hand-held thermal imager.

Naval systems on display will be target designator sight and HF Transducer. BEL will also display products like the Simputer, electronic voting machines, microwave components among others.
