This is the best time to invest in India, is the message that the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce conveying to all the German companies, said Bernhard Steinruecke, Director General of the chamber.

Addressing the chamber's annual general meeting, Steinruecke said, "We are telling all the German companies that this is time to invest. Real estate prices are low, energy prices are low and salaries are not increasing."

However, what could hurt investments is terrorist attacks like the recent Mumbai attack. Steinruecke also cautioned that for the better of Indo-German relations, such attacks should not happen any more or one day the Germans would not come here any more and Indians would not move.

Bernd Muetzelburg, ambassador of Germany in India, further pointed out that the terrorists were targeting values of civilisation and also the economic miracle, India, as a partner of the rest of the world.

The ambassador also felt that the attackers also wanted to end the rapprochement between India and Pakistan. "But they must not be allowed to succeed," said Muetselburg.
