Chennai-based BGR Energy Systems Limited, an EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) company for power projects, has secured an order worth around Rs 1,631 crore. The order was bagged from the Maharashtra Power Generation Corporation (MahaGenco) to execute the 2X500 Mw Chandrapur super thermal power station expansion project at Chandrapur, Maharashtra.
The scope of the contract, to be completed over the next 33 months, includes design, engineering, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of all the balance plant mechanical, electrical and civil and structural works for the main plant.
This is the second consecutive BOP contract that BGR Energy had procured from MahaGenco, with the first being the 500-Mw Khaperkheda expansion project near Nagpur in 2007. The Khaperkheda project is now under construction, according to a BGR release.
