Engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) company BGR Energy Systems has bagged a Rs 2,168-crore balance of plant (BoP) contract from Hyderabad-based Thermal Powertech Corporation of India Ltd, BGR Energy said today.
The project, which will set up a 2x660 MW Supercritical Thermal Power Green field, including large coal handling plant, is the 16th BoP contract to be executed by BGR Energy Systems.
Balance of plant consists of the remaining systems, components, and structures that comprise a complete power plant or energy system that are not included in the prime mover and waste heat recovery (for example: gas turbine, steam turbine, HRSG, waste heat boiler, etc.) systems.
The project includes design, engineering, manufacturing, fabrication, assembly inspection, testing, transportation, erection of equipment and civil works at the Supercritical Thermal Power Project at Krishnapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, BGR Energy Systems said in a statement here.
The project would also comprise of a sea water-based RO plant and intake water system for the makeup water to this plant, it said.
The project is funded by Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) as the lead lender with consortium of banks, it said.
The company added that besides this project, it is the only company in the private sector to complete and commission BoP of two 500- MW power projects. Two more 500-MW projects are nearing completion and would be shortly commissioned.
On their joint venture with Japan-based Hitachi Group, BGR Energy said that it has consolidated its position as an EPC contractor to manufacture supercritical boiler and turbine of 660-1,000 MW.
