Bharat Electronics Q3 net up 8%, declares dividend

State-run Bharat Electronics today said its net profit for the third quarter ended December 31, 2008, grew 8.67 per cent at Rs 122.76 crore over the corresponding period a year ago.

India's leading defence electronics firm had a net profit of Rs 112.96 crore in the third quarter of last financial year, Bharat Electronic (BEL) said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

However, the total income dropped to Rs 681 crore in the latest quarter from Rs 691.57 crore a year ago.

While, for the nine-month period ended December 31, 2008, the Bangalore-headquartered firm posted a net profit of Rs 249.02 crore, nearly five per cent decline as against Rs 262.11 crore in the same period last fiscal.

 

Further, in a separate filing to the BSE, the company today said its board has declared an interim dividend of Rs 6 per share for the year 2008-09.

Bharat Electronics today settled at Rs 787, up 1.34 per cent on the BSE.
