Bharat Forge, the 2.5 billion forging conglomerate and the largest exporter of auto components from India, is setting up a special economic zone for education institutions in Khed near Pune.
The SEZ will be operational by next year. The company has received interest from over six international universities from Europe and US, which plan to set up operations in Khed.
“It’s an notified 250 acres SEZ. Some of the universities have approached us and expressed interest to come to India. The SEZ will largely have foreign universities with only one Indian university. The education SEZ will be up and running in the next one year,” said Bhavin Shah, Senior VP, Infrastructure division, Bharat Forge ltd.
The Baba Kalyani-promoted group also has an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at Khed, and has adopted two other ITIs at Bhor and Malegaon, (Taluka Baramati) to improve the standards of technical education and training.
