Bharti Walmart on Friday launched its training centre here in a public private partnership (PPP) with the Andhra Pradesh government to create a network of retail-ready workforce.
Arti Singh, senior vice president (corporate affairs), Bharti Walmart, said, “The Indian retail sector is growing at an exponential rate, and the recent approval of FDI in multi brand retail will further impetus the growth opportunities. However, the sector lacks skilled manpower and through the centre we aim to bridge the existing gap to an extent.”
The Bharti Walmart Training Centre will offer free training and vocational certification courses to underprivileged youth in the state and equip them with requisite skills sets to bridge the gap in the cash-and-carry and organised retail sector. After this, they can be employed as floor and sales assistants and supervisors, a company release stated.
