After making perfume bottles for Jade Goody, former participant of the UK-based Big Brother show, Pragati Glass, which has its factory at Bharuch district in Gujarat has clinched a deal to make perfume bottles for Katie Price, the English model, TV personality and magazine columnist who is also known by the name Jordan. |
Price's range of fragrances, called 'Stunning' has been packed in 100 ml bottles exported from Pragati's plant in Bharuch. The plant has a manufacturing capacity of 130 tonnes per day and produces glasses of different sizes and weights. It has a production capacity of over 4,000 100 ml perfume bottles per day. |
A highly-placed official confirmed that the contract for perfume bottles was finalised with the company when Price's agent from the UK visited the Bharuch plant early this year. |
After dispatching the first consignment of bottles, the company, which is headquartered in Mumbai is believed to have received a second order although officials could not confirm the size of the order. |
As of now the perfume is available only in the UK following its launch at the end of August this year but officials say it could soon be available in duty-free shops across the globe. |
In 2006, Pragati glass had made 2 lakh perfume bottles of 100 ml capacity and over 1 lakh units of the 50 ml version of 'Shh..', which was Jade Goody's range of fragrances. Goody had also visited the Bharuch factory a month before the perfume's launch. |
The perfume among the top three in the competitive celebrity perfume market in the UK and was pitted against Kylie Minogue's and Victoria Beckham's range of perfumes. |
However, Goody's alleged racist remarks against fellow Big Brother participant and Indian actor Shilpa Shetty had led to a slump in sales and stores in the UK decided to take it off the shelves. Subsequently, officials of Pragati glass were asked to stop production of Goody's perfume bottles. |
