Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL), the country’s largest power equipment manufacturer has bagged a Rs 2,500 crore equipment order from Andhra Pradesh Power Development Corporation (APPDCL).
APPDCL is a joint venture of Andhra Pradesh Power generation Corporation (APGenco) and Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services Ltd (ILFS).
Under the contract, the equipment major will supply two units of 800 mw each of supercritical boilers for the 1,600 Mw Krishnapatnam power project to be set up in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh.
BHEL will manufacture, supply, and commission the supercritical equioment and associated auxiliaries including electrostatic precipitators (ESPs).
The company will manufacture the boilers at its Tiruchirapalli unit in Tamil Nadu , while the ESPs will be supplied from its Hyderabad and Ranipet plants.
BHEL had recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tamilnadu Electricity Board (TNEB) for the formation of a JV company for setting up a 1600 Mw supercritical thermal power project in Tuticorin District in Tamil Nadu.
