BHEL bags Rs 2,000 cr contract from Oman

Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) has bagged a major contract from Sultanate of Oman to erect and commission a series of 126 mega watt gas turbine generators for the power projects planned by the Petroleum Development Oman (PDO).

The rate contract has been secured in the face of stiff international competition, the company release said.

The contract will initially be valid for six years with a provision for further extension by another 3 years with mutual agreement, during which PDO can buy additional units from BHEL. The value of business is expected to be of the order of Rs 2,000 crore, over the next 6-7 years, the release added.

 

While gas turbines and associated equipment will be manufactured and supplied by BHEL’s Hyderabad plant, the state-of-the-art control systems will be manufactured and supplied by BHEL’s electronics division in Bangalore.
