Supporting the strike by oil sector officers, the apex union of Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd executives today said it may join the stir if the government does not pay heed to their demand of a pay hike.
"The oil sector executives are on strike for a just cause. We support their agitation in principle. We have planned to join the strike if (the) government does not implement (the) Justice M J Rao Committee's recommendations," Federation of BHEL Executives' Associations President K S N Raju said in a statement.
The Federation claims to have around 7,500 members, out of BHEL's 10,000 executives. The power equipment manufacturing firm has orders worth around Rs 1,15,000 crore.
Raju said that earlier the federation had planned to stay back in office after the working hours on January 17 to show their resentment. But considering the prevailing situation, it decided to do so on January 10, he said.
Further he said, "We may join the strike after January 10, if the government does not agree to our demands. Instead of improving upon the recommendation of the Rao Committee and removing anomalies, the bureaucracy has downgraded it vastly which is totally unacceptable to us."
The federation claims that over 6,000 BHEL executives have written about this Heavy Industries Minister Santosh Mohan Dev.
