State-run Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) today said its profit after tax increased 6.29 per cent in the financial year ended March 31, 2009, to Rs 3,039 crore over the corresponding period a year ago.
The company had a PAT of Rs 2,859 crore in the financial year 2007-08, BHEL said in a statement.
Turnover of the public-sector firm rose to Rs 27,505 crore in the latest fiscal from Rs 21,401 crore in 2007-08.
Shares of BHEL were trading up 3.60 per cent at Rs 1,525.10 in the afternoon trade on the BSE.
