State-run power equipment maker Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) today said it is setting up a manufacturing unit at Tirumayam in Tamil Nadu at an investment of Rs 250 crore, which would produce 25,000 million tonnes of boiler components per annum.
"BHEL is setting up a manufacturing facility at Tirumayam in Tamil Nadu that would initially produce 25,000 million tonnes of boiler components annually, at an investment of Rs 250 crore," a company statement today said.
The plant is expected to provide direct employment to about 750 persons and indirect employment to about 3,000 people and achieve an annual turnover of about Rs 500 crore, it said.
BHEL is planning to augment power equipment manufacturing capacity from 10,000 Mw to 15,000 Mw per annum by December 2009.
The company, which plans to invest about Rs 1,000 crore for developing locomotive manufacturing facility, is in talks with Siemens, Alstom and Bombardier for creating electric locomotive manufacturing facility at Madhepura in Bihar for production of around 150 units per annum.
