The Uttar Pradesh government will soon place orders worth Rs 2,448 crore with Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) for the supply of equipment for 4 250MW thermal power units in Pariccha and Harduaganj thermal power stations. BHEL will supply boilers, turbines and generators for capacity expansion of the 2 stations. The state government has taken up the expansion of the Pariccha and Harduaganj thermal power units, where two 250 MW units will be set up in each thermal plant. The state has approved the placement of order with BHEL for the supply of the equipment. UP chief secretary Naveen Chandra Bajpayee said the Pariccha unit would commence generation within 35 months while the Harduaganj one will be commissioned in 39 months. The state government had in December 2005 taken up the expansion of 3 existing plants, 2 units of 250 MW were to be set up at Pariccha and Harduaganj and 3 units of 110 MW (combo cycle units gas-based units) in Panki, thus adding 1,330 MW of additional capacity in next 3 years with an estimated investment of over Rs 5,000 crore. The expansion plan of the Panki plant was deferred due to gas not being available. |
