Bhilwara to invest Rs 7,500 cr to set up 1,500 Mw power plant

Power company Bhilwara Energy today said it would invest Rs 7,500 crore for setting up 1,500 Mw coal-based thermal power plant in Madhya Pradesh.

"Bhilwara Energy will invest Rs 7,500 crore to set up a 1,500 Mw thermal power plant in Madhya Pradesh," a company release said here.

The company, owned by the LNJ Bhilwara Group, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Madhya Pradesh government for setting up a thermal power plant in the state, which would be developed in phases.

The Group has commissioned coal-based captive power generation facilities across various locations of its companies.

"Our company has the support of financial institutions and banks along with world class in-house consultancy experience in inter-state power sales," Riju Jhunjhunwala of LNJ Bhilwara Group said.

 

LNJ Bhilwara commissioned its first 13.5 Mw unit captive hydro power plant at Tawa in MP to feed its graphite electrode production facilities.

It is also setting up 3,000 Mw hydro power generation capacities. Its total energy generation capacity is expected to touch 5,000 MW by 2015, including hydro, thermal, solar and wind power.

The company has also partnered with SN Power of Norway for the development of AD Hydro Power project in Himachal Pradesh.
