The ongoing rail line construction of Bhusan Steel Ltd (BSL) at Meramandali in Dhenkanal district was stopped and machineries were seized after the company was found violating the local sub-collector’s order not to carry out any construction on the canal land. The company was constructing the rail line to connect its plant to the mainline at Meramandali.

According to Dhenkanal sub-collector Biswanath Acharaya, a case was filed in his court by the Rengali Canal authorities accusing BSL of unauthorized construction of the rail line on canal land. After hearing the case, the sub collector had ordered BSL not to use the canal land unless they had permission to do so. However, the company continued the construction work. On receipt of the report of the violation of his order, the sub collector rushed to the site and seized some the machineries.
