The management of Dunlop India Limited today met several trade unions in an effort to reopen its plant at Sahagunj in Hooghly district, where work has remained suspended for the past one year.

Though the unions agreed to the company's proposal to reopen the plant in a phased manner, a final decision could not be reached as the management had failed to chalk out a concrete roadmap to clear dues of the employees, management sources said here.

The sources said the company had proposed to restart the plant on November 6, but talks on payment of dues remained inconclusive, the unions have agreed to revert on November 7.

Work was suspended in the plant, which has 862 employees, in October last year by the management alleging law and order problem and non-cooperation by workers.
