Biden holds round-table talks with business leaders

Biden emphasised a range of opportunities for the US and India to work more closely together

The current state of the global economy, challenges faced by companies in such a volatile market and hurdles and opportunities to further increase trade between the US and India came up for discussion at the round-table talks between US Vice-President Joe Biden and India’s seven business leaders. The meeting took place at the Taj Hotel on Wednesday.

Team India included  Ratan Tata, chairman emeritus of the Tata Group; Azim Premji, chairman, Wipro; Siraj A Chaudhry, chairman of Cargill India; Aslesha A Gowariker, partner, Desai & Diwanji; Pratyush Kumar, vice-president, Boeing International & president, Boeing India; Ashwini Kakkar, executive vice-chairman, Mercury Travels; and Kaku Nakhate, chief executive officer, Bank of America.
 

Sources told Business Standard that Vice President Biden emphasised a range of opportunities for the US and India to work more closely together on issues such as economic growth, trade, energy and climate change, security and investments in innovation and education.
