Taiwan-based TPV Technology, manufacturers of display solutions, is planning to introduce its LCD and Plasma television range in India by December-end and capture a market share of five per cent over the next 12 months, according to Saurabh Grover, Marketing Head, TPV Technology. |
A player in the OEM sector with clients like HP, IBM, Dell, TPV had earlier this forayed into the retail segment with the launch of its AOC brand of computers. The company has a commendable 28 per cent market share in the computer monitors market and is targeting a 30 per cent market share this calendar year with sales of 1.5 computer monitors in the 4.5 million monitors market. |
"Our revenues will grow at 25 per cent from Rs 500 crore in 2005 to Rs 700 crore this year as we up our sales from 1.2 million units of computer screens last year to 1.5 million screens this year" said Grover adding that its retail sales will account for one lakh units of the total sales. |
Currently TPV technology offers in India 10 models across the Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) and Thin Film Transistor (TFT)/ LCD range of computer monitors at the entry level. It plans to introduce five higher-end models in the fancy (better looks) and professional (better specifications) range by November. And in December it will launch the Plazma Display Panels (PDPs) and LCD Tvs. |
Explaining the expansion of the portfolio as a move to increase its profitability and top line revenues, Grover said, "LCD/ TFT computer screens have a profit margin of 2-2.5 per cent, whereas the low-end CRT's are a loss making product which will be phased out in the next two years." |
As for PDPs and LCD TVs, "We are targeting sales of 8,000 units and revenues of Rs 30-40 crore, that is a market share of five per cent within one year of launching these high-end products," he said while sharing that its strategy for capturing the market would be competitive pricing five per cent lower than that of its competitors. |
Retailing its computer monitors through its IT network of seven distributors, two in the North, three in South, one each in the East and West, TPV Technologies is looking at increasing its retail presence through upcoming retail chains of Reliance Retail, Tata Woolsworth, Sahara and others, besides adding three more distributors to its IT network by the end-of-the-year. |
The company is also in talks with various consumer goods distributors for creating a consumer electronics channel for its PDPs and LCD TVs. "We will use our IT network along with the consumer electronic goods channel for PDPs and LCD TVs," said Grover. |
