BigFlix partners with IndiaCast for film rights

Has acquired Internet rights of some films of Viacom18 Motion Pictures and Colors, which were released recently

Online movie rental service BigFlix today said it has inked a deal with IndiaCast Media Distribution, a joint venture between TV18 and Viacom18, for Internet rights of over 50 films.

As a part of the deal, BigFlix has acquired Internet rights of some films of Viacom18 Motion Pictures and Colors, which were released recently, along with the digital rights of some future releases, BigFlix Business Head Shreyash Sigtia told PTI.

These include over 50 films, such as Inkaar, Oh My God, Department, Special 26, Aiyya, Jab We Met, Kidnap, Golmaal Returns, Life Partner and Luck.

Sigtia, however, declined to comment on financial details.
 

BigFlix, which is a part of Reliance Entertainment Digital, has close to a million registered users and a library of 2,000 titles.

"The deal helps us add some blockbuster titles....We will be able to stream these films promptly after theatrical and satellite releases," Sigtia said.

IndiaCast is a multi-platform content distribution firm for TV18, Viacom18, A+E Networks, TV18 and ETV channels. It also distributes Sun Network channels and Disney Channels in Hindi Speaking Markets (HSMs).
