In a move to attract cycle manufactures to Bihar, the state government has now decided to allot them premium land in the vicinity of Patna. Earlier, companies like Hero Cycles and Avon Cycles have threatened to withdraw their investment proposals, if they would not get land near the state capital.

"These proposals are very important to us," Industries Minister Renu Kumar told Business Standard, "as they will directly benefit the people of Bihar. Therefore, we have now decided to allot them land near Patna." Hero Cycles have been allotted land in the Mega Industrial Park at Bihta, which is being developed by the Bihar Industrial Land Development Authority (BIADA). Meanwhile, Avon Cycles has received land at Hajipur Industrial Area. Both, Hero and Avon, are investing approximately Rs 200 crore each on their respective assembly units.

"The work on these units is in full swing and we hope that they will be ready for commercial production by the end of the current year or early next year," said the minister.
