Binani Cement to set up plant in Gujarat

Binani Cement today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gujarat government to set up a Rs 825 crore greenfield cement plant with a capacity of 2.5 mtpa in Junagadh.

The plant would manufacture ordinary Portland cement (OPC) and Pozzolona Portland cement (PPC) in various grades, the company said in a statement here today.

About 188 hectares of land is required for the proposed plant and for mining 1,532 hectares.

The plant would be completed by December 2010 and the commercial production from April 2011, the company said.

While, the excise duty and the sales tax for the plant is estimated to Rs 66 crore and Rs 78 crore, respectively, at 100 per cent capacity utilisation per annum.
