Biotechnology firm Biocon today said it has entered into an agreement with US-based Telaradiology Solutions to provide services to its clinical research organisation, Clinigene.

Teleradiology Solutions offers reporting service by radiologists that helps to remove delays in completion of clinical trials, besides other solutions.

"Keeping in line with our mission, Teleradiology Solutions, given their impressive track record, was the partner of choice to meet our complex image analysis requirements," Biocon CMD Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw said.

The company, however, did not divulge any details about the financial aspect of the agreement.

Teleradiology Solutions MD and Chief Radiologists Arjun Kalyanpur said for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies involved in drug development, delays in the drug development cycle can be an issue of concern. The delays were in part due to late reporting of radiologic scans on trial subjects.

"We are happy to partner with Biocon and offer our services to ensure timely execution and quality evaluation for clinical trials in radiology," Kalyanpur said.

Shares of Biocon closed 0.57 per cent lower at Rs 340.50 at the Bombay Stock Exchange.
