Biotech firm to launch organic solutions

Gujarat Eco Microbial Technologies Private Ltd (GEMT), a bio-technology venture by a group of non residential Indians (NRIs), is all set to launch alternative solutions for the users of toxic chemical products in industrial and agriculture sector.
 
The GEMT has developed unique solutions for disposing chemical, petrochemical and pharmaceutical manufacturers' waste. The company will also develop biological pesticides, fertilisers and other soil amendments, which are offered as alternative to the traditional chemical products.
 
The group is already running a bio-technology firm Organica Biotech in Philadelphia, US, which has number of patents to its name.
 
"We wanted to expand our base in India as the environment for the bio-tech is developing very rapidly. We decided to make our base in Vadodara as this place is fairly centrally located in Gujarat where you have very good base of chemicals and agriculture," said Bhavesh Patel, managing director, GEMT.
 
"Most of the company's products contain naturally occurring micro organisms and fungi in a proprietary delivery system and accelerate the earth's natural process of converting organic matter into by-products including water, carbon dioxide and methane gas," added Patel.
 
The company intends to send its products in agriculture universities for verification.
 
The company intends to produce bio-organic fertilisers, foliar stimulants, plant tonic, and other seed treatment solutions for agriculture. On industrial side, the GEMT has solutions for various affluent pollutants, affluent odors and hydrocarbon remediation.
 
A plant has been set up in Savli, near Vadodara, with total investment of Rs 2 crore for the construction and technology transfer. It will produce 12 products in about 52 verities with different formulations and different applications.
 
The directors of the company have decided undertook the first project as a philanthropic gesture to Vadodara. The GEMT will clean Sursagar Lake located in heart of Vadodara with the help of organic products in about three and half months.
 
"We expect to be in action by the end of the next month. We are in process of establishing one more company for the distribution and sales of our products. The distribution company will also establish composting units at village level to provide microbial soil conditioner," said Patel. The composting units will bring the role of organised sector in the field, added Patel.
 
The company is in talk with some local administration bodies for under taking the cleaning projects of lake and river once the Sursagar Lake project delivers desired results.
 
The GEMT has solutions for treatment and cleaning of large bodies of water and other man made small and medium sized man made lakes. The company is also in process of developing 'Neem' based pesticides for agriculture and domestic pest control.
