Birla Edutech Limited (BEL), part of the Yash Birla Group, will invest about Rs 50 crore in a year for setting up preschools, K-12 (KG to 10 plus II) and teacher training institutes across the country. For this, the company would tie up with local partners, according to Yash Birla, chairman of Yash Birla Group.

Addressing the media here on Wednesday, he said the funding would come from internal accruals, partners and also through private equity players.

The group on Wednesday announced the launch of Globe Toters, its pre-school, together with city-based DSR Infra. It would set up one school near Gandipet here shortly.

In the next two to three years, BEL was looking to set up about 30 schools (up to Class XII) and about 60 preschools in the state. Each school would need an investment of Rs 10-20 crore depending on the location and facilities. It would follow its own curriculum up to Class VIII and later affiliate to government boards like the CBSE, ICSE or the state syllabus, Birla said.

The fee would range from Rs 3,000 to Rs 10,000 a month.

Birla said the group in three years was targeting to set up 200 schools and would consider an IPO then.
