Birlas head for north

The Aditya Birla Group will mark the launch of its retail operations in north India with the opening of two stores in Delhi on Friday, a person familiar with the development said. The group has branded its stores as 'More'. These stores will retail day-to-day groceries. "The stores are located in east Delhi "" one in Krishna Nagar and another in Shreshtha Vihar," the person said.

The stores measure 1,300-1,500 sq ft. The company plans to launch 70 More stores in Delhi in the initial phase. The Group first launched its More stores in Pune in June.

The company had in May announced a Rs 9000 crore investment plan spread over three years to set up 1,000 retail supermarkets.
