Sounak Mitra New Delhi
BlackBerry, on Thursday, said, in an open statement to all its customers and partners, that the company has substantial cash on hand and a debt-free balance sheet. To reassure millions of its restive customers, the company, stated that it is here to stay.

“We are restructuring with a goal to cut our expenses by 50% in order to run a very efficient, customer-oriented organisation. These are no doubt challenging times for us and we don’t underestimate the situation or ignore the challenges we are facing. We are making the difficult changes necessary to strengthen BlackBerry. One thing we will never change is our commitment to those of you who helped build BlackBerry into the most trusted tool for the world’s business professional,” BlackBerry noted.

The company has also published an open letter in 30 news outlets across nine countries, stating that its customers can continue to count on BlackBerry and its products.

The company also claimed that it has completely revamped its device portfolio this year, would take care of its customers’ business, and will continue to offer the best mobile typing experience. The re is “no ifs, ands or buts about it,” it noted.

With Apple’s iPhone and Google’s Android, BlackBerry has surely lost ground in most of the markets. Early this year, it had launched a new line of smartphones that run on BlackBerry 10 operating system. But, that too, has failed to boost sales.

Earlier, it has been reported that the company was in talks with Cisco Systems, Google Inc and SAP about selling all or parts of itself. This deal could be an alternative to an initial USD 9 per share offer by the Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd led consortium.
