Blue Star has signed a strategic alliance with Italy-based ISA for providing a range of supermarket and food refrigeration solutions.

According to a release issued by Blue Star to the BSE today, ISA products will be imported and sold under the co-brand Blue Star-ISA. "At a subsequent stage, the company will explore manufacturing a limited range of ISA products in India," the release added.

T G S Babu, executive director of Blue Star, said: "Organised retail, in the form of supermarkets and convenience stores, will bring about a massive transformation in the way food products are procured, stored and sold in India. Huge investments have been announced by Indian corporates such as Reliance, Bharti and TATA  to tackle the retail end as well as the back end of the supermarkets. Supermarkets, in general, use a lot of refrigeration equipment. Blue Star is gearing itself up aggressively to tackle the emerging supermarket opportunities."
