Blue Star Limited will focus more on power-efficient air-conditioners (ACs) and inverter ACs in the coming years in view of the power crisis facing most states and rising energy efficiency concerns.
“Energy efficiency is emerging as a key concern for many consumers. Going forward, we will focus more on inverter and five-star ACs,” B Thiagarajan, president, Blue Star Limited, told mediapersons here.
Compared with a star-rated AC, inverter models consume 30 per cent less energy, and are priced about 30 per cent higher (between Rs 40,000 and Rs 65,000) than the traditional split ACs.
The company is also planning to invest Rs 30 crore in research and development (R&D) this year.
