BMH to set up Rs 1,200 cr health complex in Kochi

Kozhikode-based Baby Memorial Hospital (BMH) will be setting up a modern health complex at Kochi with an estimated investment of Rs 1200 crore. The project will be implemented in three phases at Kakkanad, the centre of the Ernakulam district administration. The hospital complex would be working conforming to the guidelines set by the US Joint Commission International (JCI), said KG Alexander, chairman and managing director of BMH. The Phase-I of the project will be completed in 2013.

BMH has envisaged the multi-crore project as a hospital with all modern amenities in Phase-I and an integrated health complex in the next two phases. The hospital will have an area of 700,000 sft with facilities to treat 700 inpatients. There will be 30 operation theatres and 2,000 staff in Phase-I, involving an investment of Rs 450 crore.

 

Speciality blocks with 500 beds will be added in Phase-II with a total investment of Rs 350 crore. Medical educational institutions, research centres and residential complexes of global standards will be provided in the last phase.

Alexander said that the new treatment centre with 800 beds would be operational along with the hospital in Kozhikode by this June. Actor Mohanlal released the new logo of the hospital here on Wednesday.
