Luxury car maker BMW India today said it would create 1,200 jobs in the dealer and service network by 2011.
"BMW India would employ around 400 people by the end of 2010. Upto 1,200 jobs will be created in the dealer and service network in 2011," BMW India said in a statement.
As part of its future plans, the company said it planned to set up BMW dealerships of International standard across all metropolitan centres in the country.
In the first phase, German automaker BMW India had established 12 BMW outlets in major metropolitan cities.
In 2011, BMW India would expand its dealer network to 22 from the present 20 outlets.
BMW Group has invested Rs 1.1 billion till September 2010. It would be increased to Rs 1.8 billion by the end of 2012.
The company has set up a production facility at Sriperumbudur near Chennai and manufacturers some of its latest models, include premium sedan BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 series and the SUV X1. The plant has a capacity to produce 8,000 units a year.
