Board formed to select AI COO to meet on March 27

The board formed to select a chief operating officer (COO) for Air India is meeting on March 27 to interview the five shortlisted candidates for the post.

The five-member interview board consists of Kotak Mahindra Bank Managing Director Uday Kotak, JSW Steel Managing Director Sajjan Jindal, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) Managing Director Anand Mahindra, Aviation Secretary M M Nambiar and Air India Chairman and Managing Director Arvind Jadhav. Air India had received applications from 140 top global airline executives for the post.

Meanwhile, the new Air India board with four new independent directors will be meeting for the first time on April 6. The four directors are Mahindra, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry General Secretary Amit Mitra, industrialist Harsh Neotia and Air Chief Marshal (Retd) Fali H Major. They have joined the airline for a period of three years as non-official part-time directors.
