Hyderabad-based Bodhtree Consulting has signed an e-publishing contract with Malaysia's two leading newspapers, theSun and The Edge Financial Daily today.

TheSun and The Edge Financial Daily will become the first two newspapers in Malaysia that will e-publish its print editions over the internet and will go live shortly.

The e-publishing technology enables book, magazine, newspaper and other publishers to provide digital versions of their publications for an excellent onscreen reading experience.

The e-publishing solution offered by BodhTree comes bundled with the necessary tools to convert pre-press news pages of Quark, PageMaker, In-Page or other editorial software to e-paper format in a short duration using minimal resources. This enables newspapers to publish the e-paper over the internet before the print edition goes out on the street cost-effectively.

"The ready-to-deploy and feature-rich solution provided by Bodhtree will help us gain presence in the internet quickly and effortlessly. The e-paper version of our newspapers will also offer convenience to readers who wish to read the newspaper online. Business wise, the e-paper provides us alternative means of generating revenue through multimedia advertisements and possibly in the near future, other mobile and internet-related services," said Lim Siang Jin, managing director of theSun and The Edge Financial Daily.

"We are delighted that theSun and The Edge Financial Daily newspapers have selected our e-publishing solution to drive their business revenues and build customer values over the internet" Sanjiv Gupta, CEO of Bodhtree, said.

Bodhtree offers its e-publishing solution in two different business models, in which the publication get to choose between product deployment versus service outsourcing options depending on whether they want to process the e-paper themselves or outsource it to Bodhtree. In select cases, Bodhtree also offers a revenue-share model to large newspapers.
