Boeing's India head Dinesh Keskar has been elevated as senior vice president sales for Asia Pacific and India regions. Keskar will continue his present role as president of Boeing India till a successor is named, the company announced on Friday.

In this role, Keskar will head sales organization, including contracts, marketing, revenue management and other support functions. "Asia Pacific is an important market for us. It is the fastest growing region and according to our 20 year market outlook, one-third of all planes will be ordered in this region," Keskar said.

“This move is part of our forward-deployment strategy to ensure our sales teams are closer to our customers,” said Jim Albaugh, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes in a statement

Even in 2011 both Airbus and Boeing secured a majority of orders from the region. Only 4% of Airbus’s deliveries last year went to North American carriers while the Asia Pacific region accounted for 32%.  Last year Boeing secured a record $21.7 billion order for 230 Boeing 737 jets from Indonesia's Lion Air.
