Bonfiglioli India, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Italy-based Bonfiglioli Group, is planning to set up its second manufacturing plant at Mannur near Chennai with an investment of around Rs 150 crore.
The company, which is into production of gear boxes, gear motors and various drive solutions, has so far invested around Rs 500 crore in India. It is planning to invest further in the country in future, according to a company announcement.
The company, which commenced operations in India in 1998, currently has a manufacturing facility in Chennai.
It has started manufacturing planetary range of gear boxes for windmill application in 2006 and strengthened the capacity to manufacture the ‘yaw and pitch’ drives for windmill application, both for Indian and overseas windmill manufacturers.
Bonfiglioli sources 80 per cent of its raw material from India and has 650 direct and 400 indirect employees. The turnover of the company ,which was Rs 6 lakh in 1999, has touched Rs 550 crore in 2011-12, the company said.
