German giant Bosch today announced the launch of Bosch Ixo - a battery-powered screwdriver in India.

The company also unveiled two other products as it forayed into the do-it-yourself (DIY) segment  in the power tools space.

Bosch Ixo, which will be available in the domestic market from next month, can fix screws, shaky handles, knobs of cupboards or vessel handles, officials said today.

"Powered by a rechargeable lithium ion battery, it comes with 12 screw bits, one drill bit, and one extension for optimum flexibility, and a handy charger that doubles up as a tool holder.

It's priced at Rs 1,999, and Bosch hopes to sell 30,000 units in the first year. "In some markets abroad when Bosch launched it last year, 22 lakh units have been sold till now," Navin Paul, business head of  Bosch Power Tools India, said.
