The Bosch group is planning to double the production capacity of its Bangalore plant over the next couple of years on the back of growing demand.

“We currently sell 600,000 power tools, of which about 250,000 tools are manufactured at our Bangalore plant. The remaining we get from our other units outside India,” Vijay Pandey, vice president, Bosch power tools division, told mediapersons here.

The demand for power tools is growing by over 10 per cent annually, he said, adding the company, therefore, decided to enhance the capacity of the Bangalore plant.

In 2009, the group achieved a turnover of Rs 4,750 crore. Of this, the power tools division accounted for 10 per cent. The division is targeting 30 per cent sales by launching new products every year, he said.

The power tools division of the company has opened its 32nd Bosch System Specialist outlet in Visakhapatnam. This a premium retail concept, which enables an authorised Bosch power tools dealer to display the latest company products.

“By December we will add six more such outlets in the country. Our aim is to have 100 specialist outlets over the next three years,” he said.
