BPCL Q1 net loss at Rs 1,718 cr on higher crude prices

Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) today reported a net loss of Rs 1,718 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, impacted by higher crude oil and product prices.

The company had net profit of Rs 614 crore in the same quarter previous year, BPCL said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

"Financial results for the current quarter have been adversely affected due to impact on account of higher crude oil and product prices, which could not be fully passed on to consumers," the company added.

Total income rose 31.9 per cent to Rs 34,553.4 crore in the April-June quarter from Rs 26,195.6 crore in the same period last fiscal.

 

Shares of BPCL closed at Rs 642 on the BSE, up 0.53 per cent from the previous close.
