Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) today posted a 17-fold jump in net profit for the third quarter ended December, 2011, to Rs 3,140 crore. Net profit for the corresponding quarter last year was at Rs 187 crore.
During the quarter, the subsidy increased three-fold to Rs 3,573 crore as compared to Rs 1,171 crore in the same quarter a year ago.
Net sales for the quarter under review rose 60% to Rs 58,824 crore from Rs 36,666 crore in the same quarter previous fiscal.
According to a Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) release, total income increased to Rs 59,263 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2011 from Rs 36,996 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2010.
At 1248 hours, the shares of the oil company soared up 3.67% trading at Rs 617.40 per share on the BSE.
