BPCL unit finds additional gas in Mozambique

Bharat PetroResources (BPRL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL), today said additional gas has been found in the exploration well, Windjammer (Mozambique).

BPRL Ventures Mozambique, an overseas subsidiary of BPRL, holds a 10 per cent participating interest in this block.

To date, the Windjammer well has been drilled to a depth of approximately 4,250 meters in about 1,465 meters of water depth approximately 48 km east of the Mozambique coastline, a company release said here.

The consortium members in the block include Anadarko Petroleum (36.5 per cent), BPRL Ventures Mozambique (10 per cent), Videocon Mozambique Rovuma 1 Ltd (10 per cent), Cove Energy Mozambique Rovuma Offshore (8.5 per cent) and Mitsui E&P Mozambique Area 1 (20 per cent).

 

The balance 15 per cent participating interest is with Empressa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos, the national oil company of the Southern African country.

BPRL currently has interests in 27 blocks, of which nine are in India and the remaining 18 are spread across other countries. These are: 10 in Brazil, 2 each in Australia and the UK, and one each in East Timor, Oman, Indonesia and Mozambique, the release said.
