BPL Mobile launches BlackBerry Curve 8300

Mumbai-based cellular service provider BPL Mobile and Research In Motion (RIM), the Canada-based manufacturer of Blackberry, have announced the launch of the BlackBerry Curve 8300 smartphone in Mumbai.

Being a single circle operator, BPL Mobile has a base of over one million subscribers with wireless services.

BPL Mobile is targeting young professionals in the 25-35 age group. Mr S Subramaniam, CEO, BPL Mobile said, "From our consumer insight, it is evident that today's young, energetic and on-the-move professionals seek a single handset that can keep them connected and productive yet help them unwind with entertainment features."

Norm Lo, vice president (Asia Pacific), RIM said, "We are pleased to be working with BPL Mobile to bring the BlackBerry Curve 8300 smartphone to their customers in Mumbai."
