Bpl Pulls Out Of Sterling-Led Consortium

The Tatas and the BPL group, within months of forging an alliance for cellular services, are exploring the possibility of extending their partnership to international long distance telephony.
BPL Communications today said it had decided to withdraw from the Sterling Infotech-led consortium which had put in an expression of interest for the state-owned Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd (VSNL).
Senior BPL executives told Business Standard that the group was still keen on VSNL and had initiated negotiations with the Tata group to forge an alliance for jointly bidding for VSNL.
