Britannia net up 20% in Q2 to Rs 45 cr

Operating profit during the quarter was up 15% at Rs 60 cr

Britannia Industries Ltd (BIL) on Tuesday reported 20.4% increase in net profit at Rs 45.6 crore for the second quarter ended September 2012. Its total income from operations for the period went up by 9.3% to Rs 1,416.6 crore.

Operating profit during the second quarter was up 15.4% to Rs 60 crore as against Rs 52 crore in the year ago period.

Commenting on the performance, Vinita Bali, Managing Director, said: “Despite a sharp and unexpected increase in commodity & fuel cost, we continue to drive profitable growth through focusing on 3 priority areas of revenue management, cost management & innovation. On a consolidated basis, the dairy & international operations are accretive and contribute positively to both revenue & profit”.
