British Airways (BA) is launching a five-weekly service from Hyderabad from December 7 to London Heathrow, Terminal 5 for the winter 2008 schedule. The new route provides a direct flight from the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport to London’s Heathrow Airport and convenient connections to 22 destinations in North America.
“India is the largest long-haul market for British Airways outside North America. Despite today’s announcement that we will suspend the Kolkata route at the end of March, this new route in Hyderabad will represent an overall increase in our Indian flights from 43 to 45 weekly flights in summer 2009 versus today,” British Airways area commercial manager for South Asia, Amanda Amos, stated in a press release.
Amos said BA connections through Terminal 5 to North American destinations give business and leisure travellers a wide choice of flights, some with transfer times of less than two hours. The five destinations most popular with Hyderabad travellers – New York, Houston, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco – all offer multiple same day connections through Terminal 5.
