Bridge enthusiast joins Space Matrix

Space Matrix, one of Asia’s major firms providing design and design/build services in the architecture, infrastructure and workplace sectors, has appointed Andrey Purushottam as the managing director and chief marketing officer for its India operations. Purushottam brings  over 24 years of experience across sectors like FMCG, media & entertainment, automobile and advertising to Space Matrix.

Purushottam was instrumental in developing the mix of Surf Excel, Unilever’s detergent brand, which led to a tripling of market share from 5 per cent to 15 per cent. Remember the ad ‘Dhoondte Reh Jaaoge’? Purushottam was the man behind it. After that, he completely revamped the positioning of Starcom India and recreated the new business pitch template. Within eighteen months, he turned Starcom India from a loss of 17 per cent of revenues to a profit of five per cent. He has also been associated with the brand names ‘Mahindra World City’, and ‘First Choice’.

 

“Creative and challenging environments keep me venturing into different things,” says Purushottam. He spent 14 years in client services at ad agencies, content-based internet and movie businesses and, within eight months, created Asia’s best-rated youth-cum-music website MTVIndia.com. Purushottam studied chemical engineering from IIT-Delhi, did an MBA from IIM-Ahmedabad. He is a force to be reckoned with in Bridge and Chess and and loves playing with his eight-year-old twins.
