TNT bets on Power to drive growth

With over 26 years of experience in express business, Gerry Power, the new managing director of TNT India, an Indian subsidiary of TNT Express, one of the world’s largest express delivery companies, has a clear mandate. To grow TNT’s business in India and drive profitability.

Gerry Power, a British national, has taken over the new assignment from August 1, 2011. He is based in TNT India’s head office in Bangalore.

Having worked in TNT at various senior-level positions in the UK, Malaysia, Vietnam and Indochina, Power’s main focus is not only to deliver a robust growth strategy that will further consolidate the business progress to date but also deliver a framework to fast-track growth.

 

An MBA from the University of South Australia, Gerry began his career with TNT Express in 1985 and has risen through the ranks over his 26 years with the company.

Before his current appointment, Power was the managing director of TNT Malaysia. He was also the regional operations manager for TNT in Asia.

Power held the chairmanship of the Customs Committee of the Conference of Asia Pacific Express Carriers (CAPEC) between 1999 and 2001. Besides, he served as the vice-president of CAPEC, Malaysia, the local chapter of the regional association representing multinational Express companies and AMEC, which is the Association of Malaysian Express Carrier. As the vice-president of CAPEC Malaysia, he worked closely with regulatory authorities on industry issues.

Power is also a chartered fellow of the Institute of Logistics and Transport and a member of the Institute of Export (UK). He is currently a member of the board of directors of the Asia Injury Prevention Foundation, which seeks to promote road safety in Asia.
