GE Healthcare gets a new chief

Terri Bresenham, the new head of GE’s Healthcare business in India has a tough road ahead of her. Global majors such as Philips and Siemens are aggressively rolling out plans and with Indian hospital chains growing rapidly, it is both a huge and increasingly competitive market.

Bresenham takes over the reins of the India operations at a time when Raja along with his team has made significant inroads in the sector with many an innovation part of the company’s ‘In India, for India’ campaign. A slew of products were developed under during the past few years at GE’s sprawling campus in Bangalore which has benefited GE’s Healthcare operations to expand its presence. Now, Bresenham will have to continue where Raja left off.

 

Bresenham was at GE Healthcare’s headquarters at Milwaukee in the US before moving to India to take up her new assignment. In her new role, Bresenham is also expected to continue to drive the momentum of GE Healthcare’s “Healthymagination” vision in South Asia. Bresenham has been Vice President of the Global Diagnostic Ultrasound business of GE Healthcare since 2007. Under her leadership, the $600 million global diagnostic ultrasound and IT (DU&IT) business has delivered double-digit growth, and expanded margins at twice the rate of revenue growth annually. Previously, Terri has been the general manager of GE Healthcare’s Global Diagnostic Ultrasound business.

Bresenham started her GE career as an Edison Engineer. She progressed through engineering, product management and global operation roles in PET, MR and CT businesses. She subsequently led the US sales and marketing for women’s health, and was promoted to lead the Bone Mineral Densitometry business in 2000 where she successfully integrated the Lunar, Inc. acquisition while growing revenues of over 15 per cent each year and improving profitability. Bresenham received her Masters degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Texas in 1988 and her Bachelors degree in Medical Technology from the University of Tennessee in 1983.
